The project will help connect the Sunset Park onshore substation at South Brooklyn Marine Terminal into the New York City electrical grid at Con Edison’s Gowanus substation
The study, based on deploying 85 GW of offshore wind off the Atlantic Coast by 2050, recommended building offshore transmission in phases to help reduce development risk.
The initiatives will help connect and manage renewable energy and battery storage resources on the electric grid to reduce extreme weather-related outages.
Originally approved in 2019, the goals are updated every five years to ensure they continue to meet the evolving needs of the customers and communities SRP serves.
