Alectra Utilities is investing $3.25 million to strengthen its power grid and meet the growing need for reliable electricity in the City of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, in 2023.

The company plans to spend $1.97 million to replace underground assets including switchgear and vault cover renewal, while $1.29 million to renew overhead assets including poles and transformers.

The investments for infrastructure upgrades will stabilize Guelph’s existing system and reduce outage impacts in the community. The utility firm’s investment of about $378,325 to construct a new feeder line and renew switchgear equipment in 2022 increased and improved the electricity service for homes and businesses across Guelph.
