ICYMI: Tri-State Expedites Energized Line Rebuild

This audio story for the Line Life Podcast demonstrates the benefits of adopting specialized equipment in utility field operations, emphasizing improved reliability, cost savings, and safety for transmission infrastructure upgrades.

T&D World celebrates the line trade year-round with our magazine, website, Line Life Podcast and social media channels.

For our May 2026 field-focused Electric Utility Operations section, we featured an article authored by Cody Roche, brush line crew foreman for Tri-State Generation and Transmission.

In this audio story, Cody shares how his crews rented the LineWise TLL-1300 Triple Line Lifter to expedite an energized 115 kV rebuild near Burlington, Colorado. The insulated crane attachment boosted productivity by 50–100%, reduced equipment moves and improved safety during the thermal upgrade.

After hands-on training and successful testing, Tri-State purchased its own unit to support future transmission upgrades across its multi-state territory, helping deliver more reliable, affordable power with fewer outages.

If you have a case study on how your line crews use special equipment, tools or technology or embrace best practices in the field, please reach out to Amy Fischbach, Head of Content for T&D World and host of the Line Life Podcast.

We look forward to sharing your story in the pages of T&D World magazine and on the airwaves on the Line Life Podcast.
