Nov. 2, 2023
The second contract under the London Underground High Voltage Power framework will design, supply and install new assets at Hatton Cross and Hounslow substations.

Transport for London (TfL) has awarded a $52.26 million contract to Balfour Beatty for essential upgrade works on the London Underground’s Piccadilly line.

The second contract under the ‘London Underground High Voltage (HV) Power’ framework will design, supply and install new assets at Hatton Cross and Hounslow substations including transformer rectifiers, high voltage and low voltage switchboards, direct current switchboards and auxiliary transformers, and associated cable routes.

The upgrade work will not only support the increase in traction power required for the next generation of Piccadilly line trains but also deliver increased capacity along the route.

The process to begin by the end of 2023 will be completed by 2026 and the company will create about 40 jobs, with 5% of its workforce made up of apprentices and graduates under its commitment to The 5% Club.
