The APT-1 Active Power Tester from HD Electric Company is designed to give an indication when the absence of full line voltage is detected on overhead conductors, giving an audible and visual alert.

The APT-1 is for use on uninsulated overhead conductors with voltages from 7.6 to 13.2 kV line-to-ground. The tester lets the worker know whether the overhead voltage has been disconnected prior to working on the line.

The hotstick is installed, the tester is powered by a field-replaceable 9-V alkaline battery.
