BPL Global, Ltd. has been selected by a major European-based, international transformer manufacturer through its Serveron subsidiary to supply on-line transformer monitors for the transformer manufacturer's recent large order from a Middle East customer.

Under terms of the order, Serveron has already shipped 28 monitors, with a value of more than $1 million. Serveron, a BPL Global company, is a provider of smart grid technology that enables electric utilities to improve reliability, reduce maintenance costs and optimize capital expenditures for power transformers, the largest asset class in the electric grid.

"This order has strategic implications for Serveron in the European and Middle East regions," said Keith Schaefer, CEO of BPLG. "It will accelerate business development for our transformer monitors and help expand our substation automation solution, helping utilities improve electric service reliability while reducing operations and maintenance costs."

On-site, on-line transformer monitoring enables electric utilities to manage transformer assets more reliably, operate them with a greater margin of safety and minimize or safely postpone the costs of repairing or replacing these valuable assets. The cost of purchasing new power transformers can range from about $500,000 to more than $10 million each.
