Columbus Geographic Systems (GIS) Ltd. plans to launch a geographical information system (GIS) tool designed to assist in the maintenance of infrastructure and utilities spanning wide geographical spaces.

This advanced system is designed to provide real-time information to government, non-government and commercial organizations responsible for maintaining critical infrastructure that span wide geographical spaces. These infrastructures include electricity and telephone lines. This GIS tool provides relevant information about the specific infrastructure and displays changes, problems, and events, as they occur. The intuitive system can be used by a non-professional user with minimum training, and operates on a wide range of mobile devices and personal digital assistants (PDAs).

"This new system meets a strong need from private and public utility companies looking for better ways to monitor infrastructure sites in the field," said Tsvika Freidman, CEO of Columbus. "Our new GIS tool will enable command and control of critical information for users in the field, no matter where they are. This system adds to our portfolio of GIS products offering innovative, affordable tools easily used in a range of applications."
