OMICRON has released a new three-phase protection test set.

OMICRON has released a new three-phase protection test set. With a compact design and powerful output amplifiers, the new CMC 353 focuses on commissioning and maintenance tasks particularly in industry, distributed generation, and medium- and low-voltage applications. The device allows testing of all kinds of protection equipment ranging from electromechanical relays to the latest IEC 61850 IEDs. The CMC 353 can be operated via a PC using OMICRON´s Test Universe software, or manually via the front panel control unit CMControl.

The CMC 353 offers three current and four voltage output channels that are continuously and independently adjustable. Test engineers are provided with accurate testing signals even at small amplitudes because of the use of a digital signal processor and additional error correction algorithms. Six additional independent channels with low-level signals are available at the back of the device. These signals can be used to test relays with a low-level input facility or to control external amplifier units. Comprehensive testing in IEC 61850 environments is supported using optional GOOSE (simulation and subscription) and Sampled Values (simulation) functionality.
