Meter Data Management Combines with Cloud Architecture
Itron has launched Itron Enterprise Edition (IEE) Cloud AI, a cloud-based evolution of its Itron IEE Meter Data Management (MDM) platform.
The platform combines IEE MDM functionality with cloud architecture, access to meter and grid-edge data, and AI-enabled workflows. It is available through Itron’s preferred cloud service providers, allowing utilities to align deployments with their existing cloud strategies.
IEE Cloud AI is integrated with Itron’s Intelligent Edge Operating System (IEOS), which provides a common data foundation and standardized data governance across electricity, gas and water. The integration brings together meter, grid-edge, analytics and application data to support workflows and reduce data silos.
According to Itron, the platform can be used for applications including outage insights, grid visibility, anomaly detection, revenue assurance, forecasting and load management without requiring multiple software integrations.
The system also changes how utilities can manage meter data. Instead of relying primarily on overnight or end-of-day processing, utilities can determine when data is loaded, validate readings as they arrive and address exceptions throughout the day. The cloud architecture supports near-real-time streaming, on-demand operations, queues and dynamic scaling.
IEE Cloud AI also includes natural-language and agent-assisted workflows. Users can retrieve information and gather context across connected systems, with assistance for operational tasks provided under human oversight.
Itron also offers a managed-services option through Itron Managed Services. Under the offering, Itron manages the platform and provides AI-enabled enhancements, security updates and platform maintenance.
“Utilities are facing rapid data growth, rising regulatory expectations and increasing operational complexity, yet the need for trusted meter data remains nonnegotiable,” said Don Reeves, senior vice president, Outcomes at Itron. “IEE Cloud AI brings together Itron’s proven meter data management capabilities, cloud-native scalability and AI-enabled workflows to help utilities move faster, reduce complexity and turn trusted operational data into actionable intelligence.”
IEE Cloud AI is scheduled to become available globally in January 2027. Itron said the platform will support interoperability and migration for cloud-hosted, customer-hosted and other configurations.
