Center for Rural Affairs Offers Transmission Project Fact Sheets, Maps

April 16, 2014
Projects in SD, ND, MN, IA, IL, and WI included

The Center for Rural Affairs has produced a series of fact sheets and an online database for sharing information about electricity transmission line projects in the Midwest and upper Great Plains. The resources are available to the public and to media online (see web addresses below). The fact sheets and database cover projects in South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin.

Each fact sheet contains a map of the project line, route description and details, potential impact on economic and clean energy development, stated purpose, community feedback, regulatory process, docket filing, and information on how to get involved.

According to Lu Nelsen with the Center for Rural Affairs, the fact sheets are for anyone who is interested in these projects, and wants to learn more about transmission. These are snapshots of a larger transmission database that the Center for Rural Affairs maintains, tracking transmission lines through their development and updating when new information is available.
