The second super session at the 2014 IEEE PES Transmission & Distribution Conference and Expo will cover Transmission and Distribution Technology Innovation. The session will start the day off on Wednesday, April 16, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in W184BC.
The sesssion description according to IEEE PES: Delivery network operators need their systems to operate with a high degree of efficiency and reliability. New technologies can provide alternatives to traditional power transmission and distribution systems. Recent motivations for these innovations have included the incorporation of renewable energy technologies such as wind and solar power. In this session, we’ll discuss the significant T&D system operation and design changes required to take advantage of these technologies, which often include increased automation and monitoring capabilities that offer noteworthy system benefits.
