Line Heroes in Action: Spotlight on the 2025 Rodeo Competition
Following the national and Canadian anthems and a moment of silence, the 41st International Lineman's Rodeo got underway right on schedule on Oct. 18, 2025, in Bonner Springs, Kansas.
As soon as they got the green light for the first event, they slung their tool belts over their shoulders and pulled their tool carts through the Rodeo grounds. Then in late morning, a fog rolled in from the children's area to the competition zone, seemingly making the ground disappear in a cloud.
A lot of the attendees were prepared for rain, but instead, it turned out to be a beautiful and unseasonably warm day for Kansas City in October. The event wrapped up earlier than expected in the afternoon, leaving the lineworkers and their loved ones time to pack up and get ready for the awards banquet.
Here are some of my favorite shots from the Rodeo grounds during the day of competition. Stay tuned to our Electric Utility Operations page and the Line Life Podcast for more Rodeo coverage.
