Ameren Illinois to Host Internal Lineman's Rodeo Competition to Select International Competitors
May 2, 2025
The 2024 Rodeo champions among teams will represent Ameren Illinois at the 2025 International Lineman's Rodeo this October in Kansas City.
Fresh off March Madness, Ameren Illinois is hosting its own version of a play-in competition, May 8, 2025, at its Decatur Training Center.
Lineworkers from across the company who aspire to compete in the International Lineman's Rodeo will match up to determine the top teams and individuals who will represent Ameren Illinois at this year's competition.
Teams will compete in several events to test their skills, including the hurtman rescue, in which lineworkers rapidly climb a 40-ft power pole and simulate the rescue of an injured coworker. It's a behind-the-scenes peek into the rigorous training regimen Ameren Illinois lineworkers go through to prepare to compete with workers from utilities around the world.
This year's International Lineman's Rodeo is scheduled for October 15-18 in Bonner Springs, Kansas. To learn more about the event, visit the website or follow the International Lineman's Rodeo on social media.
