Severe Storm Causes Damage and Widespread Power Outages in Louisiana and Texas

July 21, 2023
Outages were primarily due to high winds that downed trees and power lines.

At the peak of a recent storm, which caused widespread damage across northwest Louisiana and east Texas, nearly 47,000 customers were without power. SWEPCO crews worked safely and quickly to restore power following the storm that brought damaging winds that toppled trees and impacted transmission and distribution infrastructure in its service territory.

Some of the hardest hit areas included eastern Shreveport, including Broadmoor neighborhood, and northern Bossier City, where wind speeds were the highest. For more information, see the July 17 Storm Update
