Work Also Will Help Prepare System for Future Growth

Toledo Edison has completed several projects at its substation in Defiance, Ohio, totaling about $2 million that will help enhance service reliability and prepare the system for potential future load growth.

Benefitting thousands of residential and industrial customers in the Defiance area, the work included replacing voltage control devices, adding a new circuit breaker to protect vital equipment, and re-wiring electrical switches to increase the substation's capacity.

"Adding voltage support equipment is just one of the things we do to help ensure the reliable flow of power from one substation to another," said Rich Sweeney, regional president of Toledo Edison.  "With many of our customers using advanced technology that is sensitive to voltage fluctuations, this project was a cost-effective option to help maintain consistent power levels throughout our system in the Defiance area."
