Monitor and Plan for Wildfire, Disaster and Climate Risks

Innovative tools for disaster risk management.

According to the National Centers for Environmental Information, the United States has sustained 250 weather or climate related disasters since 1980 where the damage costs have exceeded $1 Billion, with 51 occurring in the last three years. Utility infrastructure and buildings are increasingly at risk from extreme weather events. The best defense is a good offense. Improving resilience, or the ability to withstand or recover from shock, is critical for this. But, how do you know where to start and build up your offense so your assets can better withstand devastating storms and other climate related events?

This video discusses DNV-GL's smart cable guard monitoring tool which monitors medium voltage power cables online, helping to minimize outage time and frequency.

This video also discusses DNV-GL's proprietary tool B-Ready to help you understand a building's vulnerabilities and identify the optimal strategies for making your buildings more resilient.
