WSAB to Hold Workshop on Publicly-Owned Utility Wildfire Mitigation Plans

Nov. 11, 2020
Board to hear presentations from representatives of publicly-owned electric utilities and electrical cooperatives.

The Wildfire Safety Advisory Board (WSAB) will host a remote access (virtual) workshop on publicly-owned utility wildfire mitigation plans on Nov. 18, 2020, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., via webcast, WebEx, or conference line.

The WSAB encouraged members of the public to attend remotely and provide their input. The board will hear presentations from representatives of publicly-owned electric utilities and electrical cooperatives.

Assembly Bill 1054, signed into law in July 2019, created the California WSAB, a board of independent expert advisers, to advise a new Wildfire Safety Division within the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) on wildfire safety measures. The WSAB will also review and provide advisory opinions on the wildfire mitigation plans of publicly owned electric utilities and electrical cooperatives. It will serve as an additional forum for the public to provide input on the important topic of wildfire safety.
