Hurricane Ida: Vegetation Management Crews in Action

Sept. 28, 2021
When the hurricane hit Louisiana, Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC, crews traveled from different states to provide assistance.

During severe storms, such as hurricanes, trees are often one of the top causes of power outages for electric utilities. Recently, Hurricane Ida, which was classified as a Category 4 hurricane, took out power for more than one million customers.

In the aftermath of the hurricane, several vegetation management contractors sent crews to Louisiana and surrounding areas to clear vegetation from the roadways and provide assistance.

For example, Asplundh Tree Expert LLC sent vegetation management crews from Ohio, Connecticut and Alabama to the hardest-hit areas. For weeks, the crews were hard at work for storm restoration.

Thank you to Stephen Hilbert, General Manager Technical Services, for sharing these photos with the readers of T&D World and subscribers of the Vegetation Management Insights enewsletter.

If your utility or contractor responded to Ida and you have some photos of your crews in action, please send them to Field Editor Amy Fischbach
