Power Restored to Customers Impacted by Fire-related Outages

June 30, 2016
Crews worked to replace more than 60 poles damaged in the Border Fire

As firefighters make progress on the Border Fire, SDG&E is able to gain access to areas and replace electric poles damaged by the wildfire, which broke out Sunday, June 19. SDG&E crews worked to complete the replacement of more than 60 poles to restore power to all impacted customers.

SDG&E has been in close coordination with fire officials and other agencies to safely restore service to the damaged power lines. The energy company also took proactive steps to protect poles in the path of the fire.

“We would like to thank our first responders for their efforts to contain the wildfire and protect our communities every day,” said John Sowers, vice president of electric distribution operations, SDG&E. “Safety is an uncompromising foundation of our company and we would like to thank our customers for their patience while our crews work in coordination with the fire response efforts to safely restore power.”

As of late last Friday evening, all power was restored to the area.
