Environmental Consultants, Inc. (ECI) announces a key addition to its executive team. Charles (Chuck)' Anderson has joined ECI as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Vice President (VP) effective immediately. In this dual role, Chuck will lead the firm’s efforts to achieve higher levels of operational excellence while continuing to ensure best-inclass service to our customers as we grow. In addition, Anderson will provide executive level consulting services with particular focus on helping customers develop strategies and programs to more effectively leverage remote sensing, including Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), geospatial and software technologies to solve their vegetation and asset management related challenges.

Prior to joining ECI, Anderson was the General Manager of North American Utilities at GeoDigital International Inc., a leader in 3D services and geospatial intelligence software. Before being acquired by GeoDigital, Anderson was the Vice President of EcoMarket Development at ImageTree - a LiDAR based remote sensing and analytics firm. He was also a senior marketing manager of the U.S. Forestry Market, at chemical firm BASF Corporation and National Director of Sales at ForestExpress, a forest products e-commerce firm. Anderson also worked 10 years in various roles as a field forester, forest manager and procurement analyst in Florida and North Carolina with Georgia-Pacific Corporation. Anderson has a bachelor’s degree in forestry from the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point and an MBA from Duke University.

ECI president James (Jim) Downie says, “Chuck and I have a long history of working together. Chuck and his team created some breakthrough innovations for Xcel Energy in wildfire prevention and protection modeling, tree health and leveraging 3D data more effectively for routine maintenance and NERC compliance. From creating online timber trading for forestry markets, to his efforts on Capitol Hill creating a program of record for NASA in environmental markets, to his vision in combining LiDAR, imagery, analytics and software for utility vegetation management, Chuck has been an innovator in natural resource management his entire career. He uniquely understands how to assemble the right combination of remote sensing, geospatial technologies, algorithms and software to solve industry and market challenges. I know first-hand what type of personal service, technical knowledge and vision Chuck brought to me as a utility director. I am thrilled that our entire firm, and more importantly our customers, can now benefit from his unique expertise and abilities.”

Anderson comments, “With so many technologies, platforms, vendors and solutions to select from, utility vegetation managers often don’t have the time to determine the best approach or the best value to cost for their specific needs. I have great passion for this industry and I truly enjoy working with the people in this sector. Joining a team with the credibility and history of ECI is an honor. I look forward to building on that foundation as we work to solve our client’s most difficult challenges.”
