Xcel Energy Begins Operations at New Service Center in Chanhassen, Minnesota
Xcel Energy has announced the start of operations at its new service center in Chanhassen, Minnesota, to continue serving customers in the west metro area with safe, reliable energy.
The facility will help the company expand its workforce and efficiency to respond to electric and gas outages. The service center offers expanded materials storage and replaces the Waconia and Shorewood service centers in the region.
The property, about triple the size of the two service centers combined, includes the main service center, vehicle storage and fleet service buildings occupying more than 60 employees and nearly 70 vehicles and equipment trailers to serve customers across the west metro area. Additionally, the service center was built with sustainable construction methods to help the facility capture rainwater, which minimizes water use to clean vehicles and equipment.
While the Waconia and Shorewood service center properties will be sold, employees moved into the new space at the end of October.
“This new service center strengthens our ability to serve our west metro communities, providing our employees with upgraded resources to make energy work better for our customers,” said John Marshall, regional vice president, Customer & Community at Xcel Energy.
