T&D World Executive Advisory Board

The Executive Advisory Board is a forum for our executive utility audience to provide strategic input and advice into the direction of T&D World content, to advance the state of the entire utility industry.

The Executive Advisory Board (EAB) is a forum for our executive utility audience to provide strategic input and advice into the direction of T&D World content, to advance the state of the entire utility industry. The EAB endeavors to provide strategic direction and inform T&D World content priorities through:

  • Identification of utility industry trends and initiatives,
  • Identification of industry areas that may need to be changed and/or improve; and,
  • Identification of new industry solutions.

Mark McVey
Principal Engineer
Dominion Virginia Power

Mark McVey is a principal engineer for Dominion Energy in the transmission operations engineering department. With 35 years of engineering experience, McVey received his BSEE degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1982. He is the current IEEE series capacitor working group chair and recent chair of the IEEE capacitor subcommittee, and also serves as a member on multiple other IEEE working groups. He is currently convener of CIGRE B3.46 and an advisor for CIGRE B3 air-insulated substations. McVey is an advisor for the United States for International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Technical Committee 33 capacitor 1000 V and above, and coauthor of the Standard Handbook for Electrical Engineers, Section 10.5 Power Capacitors. He is a senior member of the IEEE.

Chris Root
Chief Operating Officer
Vermont Electric Power, Inc

Root is Chief Operating Officer at Vermont Electric Power, Inc. He previously served as Senior Vice President of Network Strategy at National Grid. Root holds a masters in engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Northeastern University. He completed the Program for Management Development at Harvard University Graduate School of Business and has authored, co-authored and presented papers at various forums.

David Treichler
Director of Strategy and Technology
Oncor Electric Delivery

David Treichler is the director of strategy and technology for Oncor Electric Delivery in Dallas where he is responsible for strategic analysis supporting the growth of the enterprise. Prior to this role, he held senior roles in classified intelligence and defense systems, public education, finance and economic development. As a futurist, he has written 19 novels that seek to inform the discussion regarding how rapidly transforming technology is changing the nature of human relationships in an increasingly mediated world.

Daniel Kushner
Manager of Smart Grid Programs
Commonwealth Edison

Daniel Kushner is Manager of Smart Grid Programs at Commonwealth Edison (ComEd), a subsidiary of Exelon Corp., the nation’s leading competitive energy supplier. Kushner leads development and strategic planning for grid of the future initiatives including external communication and content development on emerging technologies, energy storage, microgrids and smart city deployments. Mr. Kushner has published industry trend reports ranging from smart cities to smart grids in publications including IEEE Smart City, T&D World, and Asian Survey. He holds a BA degree in history from Johns Hopkins University and a PhD in political science from Brown University.
