EDF Energies Nouvelles (Paris, France) has awarded AREVA's T&D division a contract to design and supply all electric substations for the biggest solar plant in France, inaugurated in Narbonne. The contract is the first major order for AREVA's T&D division in France, both in terms of power and lead times. Built in less than five months, the 7-MWc plant will supply the public electricity grid with the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of more than 4200 inhabitants.

AREVA will supply: eight energy-conversion stations with energy converters, embedded transformers specially designed for solar panels and medium-voltage cells; one energy base load station; and one operating and maintenance station comprised of six premanufactured elements.
