Powel Inc has acquired the CrewWorks software application from Utility Associates. CrewWorks allows line crews to complete work, record as-built changes and fill out timesheets in a simple, mobile tool, eliminating back-office paperwork and data entry.

Using an intuitive-pen based interface, CrewWorks lets line crews record as-builts and complete work by job, station (point), and compatible unit. It also makes GIS maps, street maps and unit spec books readily available to field personnel. After working their assigned jobs, crews fill out their timesheets, including both productive and non-productive time. The system supports work rules that reflect union policies and other utility-specific time-keeping requirements. In the same interface, crews can also record time against vehicles and equipment.

Back in the office, CrewWorks synchronizes with the utility’s Work Management System to update completed and in-progress work orders and receive new assignments. CrewWorks is currently integrated with the Severn-Trent STORMS application and can support integration to other work management systems. CrewWorks allows utilities to close out work orders and complete reporting more quickly, accurately and efficiently, generating a positive ROI in months.

Scott Rogers, CEO of Powel, Inc, said, “Adding CrewWorks to our product portfolio allows Powel to meet the complex timekeeping and as-built reconciliation needs of large utilities. It also complements our Mobile Work Management platform and StakeOut design tool, allowing us to offer a complete end-to-end solution for design and operations that uses proven, field-tested technology.” Powel will be demonstrating CrewWorks at the Distributech and TechAdvantage tradeshows in February. Utility Associates previously marketed CrewWorks under the name PadWorks.
