NV Energy, whose service area covers 54,000 square miles of the fastest growing state in the U.S., has contracted for implementation of Itron Enterprise Edition Meter Data Management as a core component of its Advanced Service Delivery solution. IEE MDM will support NV Energy’s advanced meter-to-cash business processes and arm customers with information necessary to transform energy usage. IEE MDM will also enable development of a variety of advanced customer-focused programs, including time-based rates, demand response, load management and energy efficiency initiatives.

IEE MDM will be used to create a single repository for all register and interval meter data, unifying NV Energy’s distinct operational areas in northern and southern Nevada under one system. This union will reduce the cost and time needed to gather and reconcile meter readings from multiple collection systems for 1.3 million electricity meters. IEE MDM will also support two-way communication throughout the network, manage service connections remotely, and perform on-demand reads.

By integrating with NV Energy’s existing customer information system, IEE MDM will streamline NV Energy’s meter data collection and billing processes. A robust validation, editing and estimation engine helps ensure data integrity. Leveraging detailed and accurate interval data, NV Energy will implement a dynamic pricing pilot project, including time-of-use and critical peak pricing rates.

NV Energy secured funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 to pay for part of the ASD solution implementation.
