On-Ramp Wireless has announced its advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) solution, which is based on its Ultra-Link Processing (ULP) wireless networking platform for utility automation. The solution supports greater than 50 square miles coverage and up to 40,000 electric meters per On-Ramp ULP Access Point, reducing network and operational costs by up to five times compared with competing systems. The advanced Meter Communication Module (MCM), developed by On-Ramp, supports ANSI meter markets with advanced features such as remote disconnect, on demand reads, precise event correlation and interval reads down to fifteen minutes.

To successfully bring the solution to market, On-Ramp is partnering with systems integrators as well as Valued Added Resellers and manufacturers to provide utility customers with a complete suite of solutions and services. Furthermore, On-Ramp plans to announce meter data management systems (MDMS) partners that will work with On-Ramp to transform AMI data into accurate, timely and actionable information for electric, natural gas and water utilities on a single converged network. The MDMS will integrate with On-Ramp’s flexible head-end application to provide a complete, secure and integrated AMI solution.
