The State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), a major Chinese electricity transmission and distribution company, has chosen the Sybase IQ analytics server to support its SG186 data center operation. This decision makes Sybase the sole analytics infrastructure provider for one of China's largest business intelligence projects.

Playing a critical role in the SG186 information infrastructure project under the Chinese Government's strategic economic blueprint -- the 11th Five-Year Plan, the SGCC data center faced an urgent need to optimize its information management to keep pace with business growth and the fast changing requirements of the China power industry. The top priority was to integrate all scattered, diversified and isolated data sources onto a unified storage and management platform, offering a centralized data service environment and analytics platform for all IT applications.

Sybase IQ analytics server will allow SGCC to handle challenging data warehousing requirements with ease, meeting the demand for advanced business analytics, stringent regulation compliance and high-speed reporting. Sybase IQ can deliver query performance up to 100 times faster than ordinary data management platforms while using standard hardware and operating systems, and is designed especially for the highly efficient storage, retrieval and analysis of massive volumes of data..

Other Sybase achievements in China include implementing operational analytics and CRM systems for China Telecom and China Netcom, a performance audit system for Agricultural Bank of China, and data centers for the Haier Group.
