Honeywell has recently announced significant advanced meter projects with Entergy Services and with Connexus.
Honeywell’s AMI project with Entergy: The Honeywell project with Entergy, which is valued at up to $250 million, will help improve electricity service and reliability for the utility operating companies' customers across Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.
Honeywell will provide Entergy up to 2.3 million advanced meters, building on Honeywell's past advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) work with Entergy. The new, integrated advanced meters will help gather and provide the Entergy operating companies with usage data to enable more efficient operations and better customer service while giving customers more energy management capabilities. The meters can facilitate automated meter reading, which is expected to drive operational efficiencies, and help the Entergy operating companies more quickly and accurately detect and resolve customer outages.
"Honeywell's advanced meter project with Entergy is the latest example of how keeping the lights on for customers doesn't have to be complicated—or costly—if the right technology is in place," said Rob Tupker, president, Honeywell Smart Energy. "We're committed to providing next-gen technologies that help utilities take advantage of management and delivery opportunities today while providing the groundwork for future energy innovations."
Pre-deployment planning and design are underway. Honeywell anticipates that the advanced meter deployment will begin in 2019, and will be completed across the Entergy operating companies' service areas by the end of 2021.
Honeywell’s AMI project with Connexus Energy: Honeywell announced a $15 million smart grid project with Connexus Energy, Minnesota's largest customer-owned electric cooperative, to deploy advanced smart grid technology to improve electricity service and reliability, and help the utility's 130,000 members better manage their energy consumption.
"Our mission is simple: keep the lights on for our members by providing electricity in the most cost-effective, reliable and environmentally responsible manner," said Greg Ridderbusch, chief executive officer of Connexus Energy. "Honeywell's smart grid technology will help us continue to meet these goals while providing a path for greater efficiencies and innovations in how we deliver electricity to one of Minnesota's fastest-growing corridors — and how customers use it."
