This order is intended for this ongoing grid modernization and electrification efforts. The utility supplies 96% of power in the state of West Bengal, including parts of city of Kolkata.

"We are immensely pleased with the announcement. It is the fifth successive order awarded to us by WBSEDCL. Our commitment to quality and customer focused approach has gone a long way in securing this major order," stated Sandip Mukherjee, CEO for Landis+Gyr India.

Landis+Gyr won the order after having successful met the tough delivery schedule for the earlier 1.5 million meter order received and delivered in 2013. The company's innovative customer focused team and dedicated manufacturing set-up at Landis+Gyr's Joka unit were important differentiators in this latest tender result.
