TXU Energy Celebrates First Year of iPhone App, Sees Mobile Traffic Double

TXU Energy is celebrating the first birthday of the TXU Energy Mobile App for iPhone and the growth of overall mobile traffic to the tools, tips and technologies available through m.txu.com.

TXU Energy is celebrating the first birthday of the TXU Energy Mobile App for iPhone and the growth of overall mobile traffic to the tools, tips and technologies available through m.txu.com. Since last year, traffic to TXU Energy’s mobile properties has more than doubled and continues to increase.

When the company launched its free iPhone app last June, TXU Energy became the first electricity retailer in Texas to offer its customers mobile access to their accounts through an app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The app launched only weeks after the TXU Energy mobile website, the solution that’s optimized for any Internet-enabled smartphone. The mobile website was also the first of its kind in Texas — and the nation — when it was announced last May. Since then, the company has seen steady adoption and use of both mobile solutions. For example:

Mobile customers using the app and mobile website have used their mobile devices for nearly 800,000 account transactions, including more than 230,000 payments.

Mobile customers have logged into their accounts nearly 700,000 times.

More than 50,000 customers have downloaded the free app from the App StoreS.

Beyond checking and paying bills in just seconds, our mobile solutions can also give customers an edge on saving energy and money during the hottest months of the year.”

The company’s iPhone app connects TXU Energy’s residential customers with some of the most popular features available through txu.com, including paying bills, reviewing usage, comparing previous bills and setting holds on their thermostats if they use the BrightenSM iThermostat, another energy savings solution from TXU Energy. The optimized mobile website also allows customers to pay their bills and review their usage. Both innovations reinforce TXU Energy’s commitment to providing customers with self-service capabilities and innovation.

The new app can be downloaded for free through the App Store. TXU Energy customers can use it to connect with their accounts using their TXU Energy MyAccount login details. The app provides instant auto-sync between customers’ iPhones and their online TXU Energy accounts so that any changes they make via the app are automatically reflected in their online accounts and vice versa. Access to the App Store requires an iTunes® account. In addition to offering the free download via the App Store, TXU Energy charges no fees to use the app for paying bills and other services.

The TXU Energy mobile website has a similar look and feel to txu.com yet is optimized for smartphone users. The mobile site provides convenient access to service options that customers demand most often. Customers who visit txu.com using a mobile device are automatically presented with a mobile-friendly view of the full site’s key features. No special app or download is required. The site can also be accessed from any smartphone via m.txu.com and is also available in Spanish.

The Brighten iThermostat includes a thermostat with a color touch screen display and an online portal available through txu.com/myaccount or the TXU Energy iPhone app. It allows customers to program their thermostats to fit their lifestyle, down to the day and hour. The convenience of this control is complemented by the cost savings it offers, as customers can save up to $360 or more over two years just by using its preprogrammed settings. The tool leverages customers’ high-speed Internet connection at home to connect their thermostats with the online- and smartphone-based controls.
