Austin Energy Chooses Elster's A3 ALPHA Meters for Smart Grid Deployment

Elster has completed shipment of 32,000 A3 commercial and industrial meters to Austin, Texas-based Austin Energy as part of Austin Energy’s advanced metering infrastructure deployment.

Austin Energy is the nation’s ninth largest community-owned electric utility, serving 388,000 customers and a population of more than 900,000.

“Because of the open design of the Elster A3 metering line, utilities have the flexibility to use our A3 meter with most third-party AMI systems,” said Dennis Warden, Elster’s general manager of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) solutions.
