Mountain Parks Electric, Inc. in Colorado has ordered a new SCADA and Distribution Management system. The system, provided by Open Systems International, is based on the monarch (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture) platform, in order to modernize and enhance utility operations and operational efficiency.
MPEI’s state-of-the-art new monarch system is set to feature the advanced functionality of OSI’s next-generation, .NET based Graphical User Interface (GUI), as well as OSI’s Advanced Alarm Management System; Real-time and Historical Trending; Communications Front-end Processor; Historical Information System and Data Archiving; Calculation & Scripting Subsystem; Disturbance Data Collection; Virtual Remote Terminal Unit; and Energy Accounting software products, with monarch interfaces to GIS, MultiSpeak and ODBC.
In a second phase of this project, MPEI will be implementing Advanced Distribution Management System functionalities, including Electronic Mapping, Distribution Power Flow and Volt/VAR Control.
MPEI provides services to residential and commercial customers in North Central Colorado; all of Grand and Jackson Counties and parts of Summit, Larimer and Routt Counties. MPEI is headquartered in Granby, Colorado and operates 1,800 miles of power lines in its service territory.
