Open Systems International, Inc. has been selected by Pedernales Electric Cooperative of Texas, to provide a large-scale, new EMS and SCADA system for control and monitoring of a distribution system that serves more than 233,000 meters across more than 8,100 square miles, includes all or portions of 24 counties across central Texas and borders the major cities of Austin and San Antonio.

Faced with new technical challenges and continuing growth, PEC chose OSI’s monarch (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture) technology to replace its existing SCADA infrastructure. The proposed system includes a modern real-time infrastructure to address operations, including advanced distribution analysis applications. OSI’s new .NET Graphical User Interface will facilitate and improve PEC’s operational situational awareness.
