Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corp. (MTEMC) has chosen Telvent GIT's weather technology to help maximize its ability to respond to outages efficiently and cost-effectively.
MTEMC began modernizing its outage management operations last year by replacing its manual system for identifying outages and dispatching crews with Telvent's automated advanced outage management system, Responder. Because weather can have the single largest external impact on the power grid, MTEMC also selected Telvent's proven weather technology to maximize Responder's outage management capabilities. Telvent's weather forecasts along with real-time lightning strike data and storm track projections will be fully integrated into the Responder system, enabling supervisors not only to retrieve accurate weather and outage information simultaneously, but also to more accurately predict when and where outages may occur and dispatch crews in order to restore power more quickly.
