Transmission Project for PG&E
Black & Veatch has completed a $40 million transmission project that will deliver power from the new Colusa Generating Station to approximately 500,000 of Pacific Gas & Electric Company’s customers.
“Delivering a project of this magnitude comes with huge challenges that can only be met with great teamwork and a ‘can do’ attitude by all involved,” said Greg Starnes, manager, Electric Transmission Projects for PG&E. “My congratulations to the entire team for their achievements in getting this project operational on time and under budget.”
PG&E’s new 660-MW Colusa Generating Station is currently under construction. When completed later this year, it will produce enough electricity to power nearly 500,000 customers. Black & Veatch provided engineering, procurement and construction services for the new Delevan switchyard that connects the generating station to nearby transmission infrastructure.
“Completion of this transmission interconnection project is a critical step in the start-up and commissioning of PG&E’s new generating station,” said James Lusby, Senior Vice President and Director of Black & Veatch’s power delivery services. “Completing a project of this size and complexity on time and under budget is a result of seamless teamwork between PG&E and Black & Veatch throughout all phases of the project.”
