• IEEE P2030 Smart Grid Working Group Announces Details of Upcoming Meeting

    The IEEE Standards Association announced that the next meeting of its groundbreaking P2030 smart grid initiative for the power engineering, communications and information technology industries will take place Oct. 27-29, 2009 at IBM’s Thomas J. Watson Research Center in New York.

    The IEEE Standards Association has announced that the next meeting of its groundbreaking P2030 smart grid initiative for the power engineering, communications and information technology industries will take place Oct. 27-29, 2009, at IBM’s Thomas J. Watson Research Center in New York.

    During the three-day meeting the Power Engineering, Information Technology and Communications Technology Task Forces will work to define and develop smart grid definitions, topologies, interoperability, end-use, interfaces, and integration, etc. which will become part of the IEEE 2030 Guide for Smart Grid Interoperability of Energy Technology and Information Technology Operation with the Electric Power System (EPS) and End-Use Applications and Loads (P2030).

    Tuesday, October 27 - 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

    Welcome: review of introductory IEEE meeting information; review agenda

    Task Force Breakout Sessions:

    P2030 Task Force 1: Power Engineering Technology (PET); Focus on PET Functional and Performance Attributes including Test and Verification methods.

    P2030 Task Force 2: Information Technologies (IT); Focus on IT Functional and Performance Attributes including Test and Verification methods.

    P2030 Task Force 3: Communication Technologies (CT); Focus on CT Functional and Performance Attributes including Test and Verification methods.

    Wednesday, October 28 - 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

    Thursday, October 29 - 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

    P2030 Working Group General Session

    Task Force Report Findings: Each Task Force will report findings to the general session.
