Eversource and Ørsted Submit Proposal for 884 MW Offshore Wind Farm in Rhode Island

The Revolution Wind 2 project will also see investments worth tens of millions of dollars toward biodiversity, research, supplier and supply chain diversity, education and environmental justice in Rhode Island.
Eversource and Ørsted have jointly filed a proposal for the 884 MW Revolution Wind 2 offshore wind farm in Rhode Island, U.S., in response to a solicitation put forward by the state. The project will facilitate direct economic benefits worth $2 billion in Rhode Island.
The environmental and economic investments of the project are as follows:
Ørsted will build its U.S. engineering center of excellence in Rhode Island, thereby generating approximately 75 engineering employment opportunities at the facility.
The Revolution Wind 2 project will facilitate the building of two new crew transfer vessels in the state to service Ørsted’s portfolio in the US, in addition to other shipbuilding investments in Rhode Island.
The project will see the infusion of $35 million toward a Regional Operations and Offshore Wind Logistics Hub at Quonset Point. New local union jobs will be generated toward the building of superior foundation components at ProvPort.

Eversource and Ørsted are currently working on the 704 MW Revolution Wind project, with construction slated to begin later in 2023. The project will come online in 2025. This project along with Revolution Wind 2 will aid the state in achieving its 100% clean energy target through 2033.
