As part of PECO’s efforts to provide safe and reliable electric service, the company recently completed a $7 million substation improvement project in Delaware County. The project included the installation of a 138-kV capacitor bank and related equipment to reinforce the local electric transmission system.

PECO’s electric transmission system provides high voltage electricity to electric distribution substations throughout the region. Electric distribution substations convert high voltage electricity from transmission lines into lower voltages for delivery to homes and businesses.

“We are constantly evaluating and upgrading our facilities and equipment to ensure safe and reliable service for our customers,” said John McDonald, vice president of Technical Services, PECO. “These strategic infrastructure investments help us meet the needs of our customers and deliver the level of service that they have come to expect from us.”
PECO invests hundreds of millions of dollars in infrastructure improvement projects on an annual basis to ensure continued electric service reliability for customers throughout the service territory.
