Florida Power & Light Company reports that the remaining 2235 customers left without power by Hurricane Wilma will be essentially restored by end of day today. While the restoration of remaining customers will essentially be completed tonight, crews will continue working throughout the weekend to restore service to any home or business at which damage may be more localized and severe.

The company is asking any customers still without power to report it by calling 1-800-4OUTAGE so their outage can be addressed by crews as quickly as possible. The company reports that it will essentially complete the restoration by end of day today. Originally, 3,241,400 customers were impacted by Wilma.

Of the 2235 customers still without power, 1597 are in Broward County and the remaining 638 customers in Miami-Dade. Restoration was essentially completed last night in Palm Beach County’s Belle Glade, Pahokee and South Bay communities. Work continues largely on a house-by-house, pole-by-pole basis in remaining areas.

FPL says that customers contacting the company regarding normal business may experience a longer than normal response time for service – even several weeks – because most FPL employees have been involved in restoring power to damaged communities. The company also continues to encourage customers to keep their family’s safety top-of-mind.
