Swissgrid has selected Nexans via an auction to supply and deploy Very High Voltage (VHV) overhead power lines to the south of the Geneva-Cointrin airport. This project will facilitate the freeing up of land for urban development in the greater Geneva locale.

The turnkey contract is worth $27 million. This Swissgrid project falls under the “Axe Stratégique Réseau” development programs. Nexans will also be responsible for disassembling the incumbent gas-insulated extra high voltage link in addition to other civil works.

Nexans will also deploy two 144-strand fiber optic links and install a cable temperature monitoring solution. In the entirety of the project, Nexans will provide certain engineering services. The project is under the jurisdiction of the Federal Roads Office’s “Redevelopment of the Grand-Saconnex motorway junction.”
