2014 IEEE PES Transmission & Distribution Conference attendees are encouraged to participate in the technical tours of various industrial facilities. Technical tours have been offered at most IEEE PES T&D Conferences, as the host utility makes arrangements with local facilities for in-depth excursions. On Tuesday, April 15, ticketholders will tour ComEd’s Operations Control Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All dispatch activities for the ComEd distribution system, which serves more than 3 million customers, take place from this center. The tour will detail the physical layout of the facility, including the emergency command center and dispatch “pods” as well as an explanation of the IT systems in use.
