SAM, Inc. has a commitment to being on the forefront of geospatial solutions. Recently the firm has been aggressively developing plans for the implementation of an emerging technology based on the use of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to perform a wide range of surveying and mapping tasks. The company has acquired its own professional-grade UAS platform system and has been testing its practicability for future commercial geospatial uses.
Currently the commercial use of these vehicles is highly restricted by governmental regulations, but those rules are expected to change in 2015, opening new possibilities for their broader use. During the interim period, SAM, Inc. is working with public partners that currently meet FAA requirements to promote the developmental testing of UAS in commercial applications.
