The 2008 IEEE PES T&D Conference & Expo wrapped up on Thursday, April 24, at the closing reception and celebration. The society is now looking ahead to 2010 in New Orleans. The show was supposed to have been held in New Orleans in 2006 when Hurricane Katrina hit and the show was moved to Dallas. So the 2010 will be a special show, in support of the New Orleans community and tradition.

President Bush said last week: "New Orleans is a great city to host a meeting or host a convention; they know what they're doing down here. The city is recovered, it's on its feet and it's bouncing back and it is an honor to be back here." The President was hosting an international conference with President of Mexico and the Prime Minister of Canada.

Looking back on 2008, however, shows a successful conference and expo. More than 700 exhibitors from around the world displayed their products and services. And more than 50 companies took part in the student job fair

"By any standards, this was a major event for the electric utility industry in both education and displaying the technologies of the intelligent grid," Wolf said.
