Opening Reception: Fabulous Florida in the 50s

Celebrate Fabulous Florida in the Fifties at Monday evening's opening reception at Orlando's Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel. You will be carried back to the swinging Miami scene and through the swamps of the Everglades. Experiencing the music, foods, high life and low country culture in the most entertaining ways you can imagine. Watch for clues coming to all registered attendees building the anticipation of a night to remember at the 2012 IEEE PES T&D Conference.

Shuttle buses will take you to and from your hotel. Registration badge is required.

You are invited to attend the family reunions of two of Florida's most prominent, and notorious, families as you travel back to yesteryear to - Fabulous Florida in the Fifties!

There are two distinct areas to this party, The Santiago Family is having their Reunion at their swinging hotel on the pool deck complete with private cabanas, tropical beverages and the family band. Other areas you will want to visit are a separate gaming area with a lounge singer you will not soon forget and an outside Mojito and cigar bar.

The Sawgrass Clan has spared no expense to tidy up their corner of the swamp and have RSVPs from every cousin they know. Here under the Florida skies you can sample desserts from the bake sale area, meet some family pets, play a friendly game of corn hole, take part in the watermelon eating contest or enjoy the Cajun inspired music from the family band in front of the bait shop.

The climax of the evening is a spectacular fireworks presentation that the Sawgrass Family is presenting to you, their honored guests, as their way of saying, "thank you" for bringing "electric juice" to the glades. It was all Grandma's idea since she almost lost a toe stepping on a gator on her way to the out house while juggling her lantern and reading materials.

Both families will be on hand to welcome and compete to make you part of "their family." Themed food and beverages along with entertainment and plenty of photo ops will make you appreciate how "normal" your own family reunions are.
