Leveraging Technology for a Resilient and Affordable Power Grid at IEEE PES T&D 2026
At the IEEE PES T&D Conference and Exposition 2026 in Chicago, industry leaders will take the stage for a timely “Breaking News” panel focused on one of the grid’s most pressing challenges: how to deliver reliable, resilient and affordable electricity amid rapid system change.
Scheduled for 9:00–10:00 a.m., the session—“Leveraging Technology for Reliable, Resilient, and Affordable Energy Delivery”—will bring together utility and grid experts to examine the latest developments shaping power systems, from policy shifts and cost pressures to emerging technologies.
Moderated by Damir Novosel of Danovo Energy, the panel features a cross-section of global and U.S. utility perspectives, including Ramit Bajaj of Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Kevin Geraghty of San Diego Gas & Electric, and Gerald Kaendler of Amprion GmbH.
The discussion comes at a time when grid operators are navigating increasingly dynamic system conditions. Rising electrification, variable renewable generation, tighter operating margins and more frequent extreme weather events are all contributing to heightened risks of major outages. Against that backdrop, panelists are expected to explore how utilities can better leverage advanced technologies and operational strategies to maintain system reliability while keeping costs in check for ratepayers.
Organizers say the session will highlight both near-term actions and longer-term strategies needed to support evolving societal demands on the grid—offering attendees a snapshot of the most urgent issues currently confronting the power sector.
