ATLANTA, Jan. 28, 2009 –- Landis+Gyr and Corporate Systems Engineering announced the commercial availability of a two-way load control device designed for Landis+Gyr smart grid networks.

Manufactured by Corporate Systems Engineering in Indianapolis, Indiana, the device is compatible with the Landis+Gyr RF mesh network for advanced metering and distribution automation. Landis+Gyr and Corporate Systems have a long history of product collaboration on RF mesh solutions.

“With the tremendous increase of interest in demand response, energy efficiency and integrated measurement and verification, utilities are turning to Landis+Gyr to provide seamless integration of two-way load control for their advanced metering initiatives,” said Michelle Mindala-Freeman, Vice President of Product Marketing at Landis+Gyr.

“As utilities look to fund deployments of smart grid and advanced metering technologies, two-way verifiable load control provides a tremendous economic advantage to business plans that include demand response utilizing the Landis+Gyr two-way load control device,” commented Steve Taylor, President and Chief Executive Officer for Corporate Systems Engineering.

Three key advantages of this device are the utility's ability to rapidly verify operation, establish baseline load profiles, and easily bridge to home area networks for consumer-deployed demand response. Utilizing the Landis+Gyr RF mesh network, the two-way device creates the perfect demand response tool for balancing renewable generation, such as wind and solar.

The load control device supports multiple local and remote relays for controlling additional loads at a single location. Additionally, the central control software provides multiple command and scheduling options, including direct cycling, direct curtailment, grouping and scheduled cycling.

Orders for the load control device are currently being taken for the 2009 load control season. Contact your Landis+Gyr representative for more information and visit Corporate Systems Engineering (booth #2307) or Landis+Gyr (booth # 714) at DistribuTECH 2009 for a product demonstration.
