ABB has announced additional details about the “Preparing for the future grid” track of its upcoming APW digital conference. This online education event, titled “Risk, reliability & recovery,” will focus on electric power and microgrids, and take place September 22, 2016, 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. EDT. It is free to attend.

The conference will begin with a keynote session and then continue in two tracks. In the “Preparing for the future grid” track, sessions will focus on the change taking place within the power industry and several key areas where that change is most evident. Presenters in these sessions will examine the business case for microgrids, the rising importance of service, the advent of digital substations and the future of the generation mix.

Sessions in this track include:

  • Key considerations for a successful grid-embedded microgrid (12:00-1:00 p.m. EDT)
  • Revolutionizing substation maintenance practices to maximize reliability (1:00-2:00 p.m. EDT)
  • Digital substations: Protection & control for the future power system (2:00-3:00 p.m. EDT)
  • Navigating the changing generation landscape (3:00-4:00 p.m. EDT)
