Entergy New Orleans has completed upgrades to critical transmission lines in New Orleans East as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the city’s electrical system, particularly ahead of peak hurricane season.

“Our work is going beyond routine maintenance,” said Daniel Calamari, director of reliability at Entergy New Orleans. “These upgrades provide the stability and reliability that our customers can count on, especially during hurricane season. Strengthening the grid today helps safeguard the future of our city.”

The project involved replacing aging wooden poles with new steel structures designed to withstand high-speed winds and installing a new switch to safely control the flow of electricity. Multiple teams — including distribution, transmission, substation, and engineering — collaborated to complete the work efficiently and safely.

Entergy New Orleans stated that the improvements will benefit the entire city by supporting reliable electric service and contributing to economic stability. The company said a resilient grid helps retain residents, supports existing businesses, and encourages new investment.

The utility plans to continue investing in projects aimed at improving the resiliency of the electrical system to support current residents and future growth.
