By training for a career in the line trade, aspiring lineworkers can practice skills and prepare for a future in line work. To give these future lineworkers a taste of the trade, supervisors of Salt River Project's apprenticeship program designed the annual Grunt Olympics.

The challenges in this competition simulated the on-the-job activities performed by SRP's field workforce. They included the Sawtooth Showdown, Harrington Hoist,  Iron Ascent and an obstacle climb exercise.

SRP shared these photos with T&D World to showcase this special contest for up-and-coming lineworkers. Check out this gallery to see the scenes from the recent 2026 Grunt Olympics in Arizona.
