SRP Apprentices Get Top 10 Division Ranking at International Lineman's Rodeo
Two teams of SRP lineworkers and apprentices returned to the Valley after placing in the top 10 of their division at the International Lineman's Rodeo in Kansas City on Oct. 18.
SRP lineworkers and apprentices showed off their skills and intensive training by competing against utility companies from around the world at the International Lineman’s Rodeo.
The crews participated in several traditional lineworker activities, including a pole climb and a “hurt man” rescue. Apprentices were also given a written test and participated in mystery events.
Rodeo training has been underway for months, beginning in February, when crews practiced on weekends to prepare for the International Lineman's Rodeo. SRP had three apprentices rank in the top 10 and six placed in the top 20 of their division.
